TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology concludes the 2016-17 men's basketball home schedule with a matchup against Anderson University on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. at Hulbert Arena.
The Fightin' Engineers stand 12-11 overall and 10-6 in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play heading into the matchup. Rose-Hulman has secured a spot in the No. 4 vs. No. 5 matchup against Transylvania in the upcoming six-team conference tournament that begins Feb. 24.
Anderson enters Wednesday's matchup in a tie for second place in the league standings, one game behind conference leader Hanover. The Ravens are 16-7 overall and 13-3 in conference games.
Rose-Hulman features a one-two punch averaging double figures in scoring this season. Sophomore Charlie Aimone averages 17.0 points per game, and senior Collin Wojcik adds 13.6. Both players have scored double figures in six consecutive games during Rose-Hulman's current 5-1 streak.
The recent starting lineup has included junior Stephen Schueth (7.6 ppg); senior Wade Stallings (4.9 ppg); Aimone (17.0 ppg); sophomore Nick McGrail (6.1 ppg); and freshman John Czarnecki (8.6 ppg). Rose-Hulman has also increased its three-point shooting to 41% as a team and increased its rebounding margin to +3.4 per game during the recent streak of success.
Anderson has also won five-of-six games coming into Wednesday's matchup. Trevor Lucas leads four starters in double figures at 21.4 points per game. Cole Hartman (18.7 ppg), Stanley Duncan (15.0 ppg), Nathaniel Acree (11.2 ppg) and Brett Anderson (7.0 ppg) round out the Anderson starting lineup.
Rose-Hulman leads the all-time series with Anderson 36-23 and holds a narrow 11-10 lead in HCAC play. Anderson won this year's earlier meeting 88-83 on Jan. 11.
The night will also be Rose-Hulman's Samaritan's Feet 50-50 raffle game to help an organization with the goal of placing shoes on those in need globally. Wristbands supporting Samaritan's Feet will also be on sale at the game.
After Wednesday's game, Rose-Hulman concludes the 2016-17 regular season at Defiance College on Saturday at 3 p.m.
