GREENCASTLE, IND. -- No. 21 ranked DePauw University relied on one goal in each half to top Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 2-0 in men's soccer action on Sunday afternoon.
Andy Morrison scored in the seventh minute to give DePauw a 1-0 lead, before Rose-Hulman battled the nationally ranked Tigers without a score for either squad until the 79th minute. Julian Gonzalez added an insurance goal for the final margin of victory.
Rose-Hulman relied on a strong defensive effort to hold DePauw to just nine shots. The Tigers had a 5-2 edge on shots in the opening 45 minutes and a 4-2 edge in the second half. The Fightin' Engineers also had three of the matches four corner kicks in the second half.
Junior Drew Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) had three saves for Rose-Hulman. Four players fired one shot on goal each.
DePauw improved to 5-0 on the season, while Rose-Hulman stands 1-1-1. The Fightin' Engineers return to action with their home opener against Greenville College on Wednesday night.
