CRAWFORDSVILLE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology went on the road and battled in-state rival Wabash College to a 1-1 men's soccer draw on Saturday afternoon.
Senior William Senat (Edmond, Okla./North) put the Engineers ahead 1-0 in the 51st minute, courtesy of an assist from senior Drew Belk (Jasper). Wabash knotted the score on a penalty kick score by Ivaylo Mantchev in the 58th minute.
The rest of the match was a 60-minute tight battle, with Rose-Hulman narrowly holding an advantage in shots 12-11. Senat, freshman Ben Lyon (Westfield) and freshman Alex Jansen (Johnsburg, Ill.) led the offensive effort with two shots each.
Junior Drew Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) paced the Fightin' Engineer defensive effort with seven saves in net. Riley Pelton led the Wabash effort with four shots.
Rose-Hulman stands 1-0-1 on the season and travels to No. 21 ranked DePauw University on Sunday at 2 p.m. Wabash stands 1-1-1 on the year.
