DANVILLE, KY. -- A late goal early in the second overtime ended a scoreless tie and handed the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team its first loss in three games, as Centre College picked up the 1-0 victory Sunday in Danville, Ky.
Centre's Cameron Miller netted the match's lone goal in the 103th minute, scoring unassisted to end what had been a tightly contested nonconference contest.
The Fightin' Engineers (3-2-2, 0-0 Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference) managed 12 shots to Centre's 19, as junior Drew Miller (Cincinnati, Ohio/Bishop Fenwick) stopped six of the Colonels' shots on goal.
Rose-Hulman senior William Senat (Edmond, Okla./North) tallied five shots and classmate Drew Belk (Jasper, Ind./Jasper) had three shots to lead the Engineers.
Centre held a slight advantage on corner kicks, 6-5. The Colonels improve to 4-1-2 with the win.
The Engineers return home with a nonleague match with Illinois Wesleyan, set for 7:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Intramural Field.
