ELSAH, Ill. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology closed out non-conference play with a 2-0 win at Principia College Tuesday evening. The Fightin' Engineers have now won six straight matches over the Panthers.
The Fightin' Engineers went on the offensive early and often firing 10 shots in the first half and 18 total shots in the game. Rose-Hulman took an early 1-0 lead after senior Austin Webb scored his second goal of the season in the 17th minute. Freshman Travis Bednarek picked up his first career assist on the goal.
In the second half, Rose-Hulman added to their lead when Webb scored his second goal of the match off a pass from fellow senior Turner Perkins in the 57th minute.
Senior goalie Carter Wright saved five shots and earned his third win of the season in goal for the Fightin' Engineers.
Rose-Hulman closed out the 2017 non-conference slate with a record of 5-3-1. RHIT will travel to No. 19 and undefeated Transylvania University on Saturday September 30 to kickoff Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference play. Kickoff from Lexington, Ky. is set for 3:30 p.m.
