TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – After a 5-5 spring trip and a few weeks off from competition, the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology softball team will return to the diamond on Sunday March 19 for a double header against MacMurray College. The Highlanders from Jacksonville, Ill. will bring an 0-5 record to the Rose-Hulman Softball Field.
The Fightin' Engineers have had a lengthy break since their last day of competition. RHIT traveled to Clermont, Fla. for 10 games as a part of their spring trip at the beginning of March. Rose-Hulman posted a 5-5 record during the trip that included wins over Houghton, Waynesburg, Finlandia, Adrian, and Concordia-Moorhead.
Cydney Ogan leads the Fightin' Engineers with a .350 batting average this season. The freshman has also driven in five runs. Third baseman Jenny Miller is hitting .346 through 10 games and leads the team with 12 stolen bases. Miller is only two stolen bases shy of the single season record for steals in a season at RHIT. The junior from Elkhart, Indiana has an on-base percentage of .528 this season. Junior Michelle Korf is off to a solid start this season as well. The P/CF has driven in seven runs and has posted a 3-2 record on the mound with 3.88 ERA. Freshman P Baylee Sparks has gone 2-3 on the mound but has a 2.47 ERA.
Game One of the doubleheader on Sunday March 19 will begin at 1 p.m.
