TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology scored five runs in the fifth to secure an 8-0 win in the opener of Sunday's softball doubleheader against MacMurray.
In the opener, junior Michelle Korf tossed a two-hit shutout over five innings to help propel an 8-0 victory. Korf allowed just two singles with one walk and one strikeout to move to 4-2 on the season.
Offensively, Rose-Hulman blasted two home runs in the contest. Jenny Miller led the offense with a 3-3 performance that included a round tripper, a double, a single, three runs scored and one RBI. Gabbi Markison also hammered a ball over the new scoreboard for a solo shot.
Game two of the doubleheader is currently underway.
Rose-Hulman improved to 6-5, while MacMurray dropped to 0-6. The Fightin' Engineers return home to face Illinois College on Saturday at 1 p.m. in a twinbill at the Engineer Softball Field.
