TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – On Wednesday April 19, the Rose-Hulman softball team will host the Illinois College Lady Blues in a doubleheader beginning at 5:30 p.m. at the Rose-Hulman Softball Field.
After going through a tough stretch where RHIT played 10 consecutive games on the road, the Fightin' Engineers have a 14-game homestand that will carry them through the remainder of the 2017 regular season. This past weekend Rose split a doubleheader with Oberlin College at home.
Illinois College will bring a 13-9 record to Terre Haute. Before playing Rose on Wednesday, the Lady Blues will play Knox College on Tuesday April 18. Both the Fightin' Engineers and Lady Blues were scheduled to meet earlier this season, but rain forced the doubleheader to postponed until Wednesday.
For Rose, catcher Morgan Dreyer has put together a nice senior campaign, batting .353 with three doubles, two home runs and 14 RBIs. Over the last 10 games, Dreyer is batting .429 (15-35) with a double, a home run and four RBIs. Freshman Cassidy Yeomans has had a hot streak recently for the Fightin' Engineers. Over the last six games, the second baseman is hitting .438 (7-16) with a double, two home runs and five RBIs.
For Illinois College, Jackie Reilly leads the squad with a .365 batting average and five doubles. Shelby Koehler is hitting .344 with 12 RBIs as well for IC.
First pitch on Wednesday in game one of the doubleheader will be at 5:30 p.m.
