Women's Tennis Narrowly Falls at Anderson

ANDERSON, Ind. -- Anderson University won four of six singles matches to rally and capture a narrow 5-4 win over Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology in Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's tennis action on Thursday afternoon.

Rose-Hulman held a 2-1 lead after solid wins at the No. 1 and No. 2 flights.  Naomi Bhagat and Anna Thompson won 8-5 at No. 1 doubles, and Fanny-Jane Banda joined Kyla Jarvis for an 8-1 win at No. 2 doubles.

In singles action, Anderson rallied to pick up four wins to earn the narrow match victory.  Bhagat picked up a 6-3, 6-3 win at No. 1 singles, and Banda won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 3 to lead the Fightin' Engineeer performance.

Rose-Hulman stands 4-5 and completes the HCAC season at 4-4, while Anderson improved to 5-2 in HCAC play.  The Engineers conclude the regular season with matches against Judson (2-3) and St. Mary's South Bend (0-0) on Friday at the South Bend Racquet Club.
