TERRE HAUTE, IND. -- Greenville College earned three close set victories to top Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology 25-22, 28-26, 25-21 at Hulbert Arena in the Fightin' Engineer home opener on Friday night.
Corinne Coon led Greenville with 21 kills, Ellen Lueking had 36 assists, and Jamie Schollenbruch added 26 digs to lead the Panthers attack.
For Rose-Hulman, sophomore Sarah Jensen (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) led the offense with 11 kills and 15 assists. Senior Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) added 10 kills and 16 digs.
Freshman Morgan Dreyer (Batesville) led Rose-Hulman with 18 assists. Freshman Katelyn Race (Columbia, Mo./Rock Bridge) and freshman Katie Ward (Marengo, Ill.) added three blocks each. Senior Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) conributed a team-high 25 digs to the effort.
The Fightin' Engineers stand 2-4 on the season and return to action at the Rose-Hulman Invitational on Saturday and Sunday. Rose-Hulman faces Webster and Ohio Wesleyan on Saturday starting at 4, and will battle Muskingum and Kenyon on Sunday starting at 10 a.m.
