GREENCASTLE, IND. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology avenged an earlier season loss to Olivet College before falling to host DePauw University at the Tiger Invitational on Saturday.
The Fightin' Engineers swept Olivet 27-25, 25-19, 25-14 to avenge an earlier five-set loss. Rose-Hulman claimed the first set from DePauw 25-22, before the hosts won the final three sets 25-19, 25-15, 25-10.
Against Olivet, sophomore Sarah Jensen (Overland Park, Kan./Blue Valley Northwest) led the offensive effort with 17 kills and 18 assists. Freshman Morgan Dreyer (Batesville) added nine kills, 18 assists and a team-high three service aces.
Freshman Melinda Buckrop (Orion, Ill.) contributed six kills to the effort. Senior Kate Dangel (Upper Arlington, Ohio) led the team with 13 digs, and senior Casey Levitt (Thousand Oaks, Calif./Westlake) had 10.
Against DePauw, Jensen again led the offense in kills with 11 and had 10 assists. Levitt added seven kills, and Dreyer led the assist effort with 23.
Defensively, Dangel recorded 23 digs and Levitt pitched in with 20. The blocking attack featured five block assists from Race and four from Dreyer.
Jensen was named to the all-tournament team following the event.
Rose-Hulman stands 7-8 on the season and returns to action with a Homecoming Quad next Saturday. The Fightin' Engineers host Principia College at 11 a.m. and will battle Illinois College at 1 p.m.
