Volleyball Tops Olivet & Adrian; Finishes Weekend 2-2

NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology swept Olivet College and Adrian College on Saturday to finish 2-2 at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference / Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association Volleyball Crossover Challenge this weekend at Manchester University.

Rose-Hulman topped Olivet 25-22, 16-25, 25-21, 25-16 in the opener for its first victory of the season.  The Fightin' Engineers backed up the effort with a three-set win over Adrian on Saturday afternoon.

In the win over Olivet, freshman Katelyn Race led the Rose-Hulman offense with 12 kills.  Sophomore Morgan Dreyer added eight kills, 11 digs and a team-high 22 assists.  Sophomore Sarah Jensen contributed 19 assists and seven kills, and senior Briana Harvey had seven kills for the Engineers.

Freshman Gabi Razma recorded 27 digs to pace the defensive effort.  Freshman Mackenzie Gossard added a team-high six blocks, including two solos.

Against Adrian, Jensen pounded out 19 kills to lead the offensive performance.  Freshman Emily McLendon had seven kills and four block assists, while Race and Dreyer added six kills each.

Dreyer recorded 30 assists, while Razma (18) and Harvey (17) led the squad in digs.  For her efforts, Razma earned a spot on the event's all-tournament team.

Rose-Hulman returns to action at Greenville College on Tuesday afternoon.
