Four Fightin' Engineers Earn HCAC Weekly Honors

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Four Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology student-athletes were named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Players of the Week, in results released today by the league office.

Rose-Hulman swept the Men's and Women's Cross Country Runner of the Week awards, as junior Alton Anspaugh and freshmen Mary Petersen captured the honors.  Bella Evans was named Women's Tennis Player of the Week, and Gabi Razma claimed Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week honors.

Anspaugh earned his second HCAC Runner of the Week award so far this season after a strong performance at the Principia Cowbell Invitational on Saturday.  His eight-kilometer time of 25:48 ranks No. 16 in Rose-Hulman school history and also marked his career-best eight-kilometer mark in competition.

Petersen captured her first HCAC Runner of the Week award after running the fifth best six-kilometer time in school history on Saturday.  She completed the course in 23:34 to place sixth individually and help Rose-Hulman's women earn a top-five team finish.

Evans claimed her first career HCAC Women's Tennis Player of the Week award after finishing a perfect 4-0 in singles play as the Fightin' Engineers won four matches in four days.  She completed the regular season with a 12-0 singles record, improving her career mark to 33-8 in singles matches.  Evans has 53 total wins in her career, including a 20-20 doubles record.

Razma has earned eight career HCAC Volleyball Defensive Player of the Week awards, including three this season.  She leads the conference with 419 digs and 5.66 digs per set so far this season.  Last week, Razma averaged nearly seven digs per set with 31 in a three-set win over Franklin. She currently ranks second in school history with 1,791 digs, and is just 345 digs shy of the career school record.

The women's tennis team completed the regular season at 10-2 and is the No. 2 seed for the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament, set for this weekend in Indianapolis.  The volleyball team travels to Greenville on Wednesday before heading to conference foe Hanover on Saturday for a twinbill.  The cross country teams head to Evansville on Saturday.
