TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The 2019 Rose-Hulman cross country schedule is highlighted by the Fightin' Engineers hosting the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championships on Nov. 3 at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course.
Rose-Hulman opens the season at the Indiana State University John McNichols Invitational on Saturday Sept. 21. The McNicholas Invitational will also allow HCAC institutions that choose to run the course that opportunity prior to the championship meet.
The schedule also includes trips to Millikin (Sept. 27), Kentucky Wesleyan (Oct. 12) and Wisconsin-Oshkosh (Oct. 19). Rose-Hulman hosts the HCAC championships Nov. 3, and the NCAA Great Lakes Regional takes place at Calvin College on Nov. 16.
The 2019 schedule will also help Rose-Hulman prepare to host the 2020 NCAA Division III National Championships at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course.
The 2019 men's team looks to repeat its 2018 HCAC championship. Rose-Hulman has won four HCAC men's championships in the past five years under head coach Geoff Wayton. Returning all-conference performers include Matthew Stevenot (2nd place), Evan Ammidown (5th place) and Ben Gothard (11th place). Nathan Ciriacks (13th) and Nolan Gross (15th) are returning honorable mention all-HCAC performers from 2017.
On the women's side, Rose-Hulman came home third in the 2018 HCAC championship after winning the 2017 title. Mary Petersen earned all-conference honors by finishing third in the league last season, with Sarozjani Hunter adding honorable mention all-league honors in 20th.
