TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology scored in its final six at bats to top DePauw University 10-1 in non-conference baseball action on Wednesday night at Art Nehf Field.
The Fightin' Engineers scored three times in the fourth, twice in the third and sixth, and once in the fifth, seventh and eighth to secure the win. Rose-Hulman also outhit DePauw 16-4 on the evening.
Zach Donnelly led the Rose-Hulman offense with three hits, including a triple, with two RBIs. Conner Shipley added two singles and two RBIs, with Luke Calabrese and Harris Camp pitching in two hits each. Calabrese had a double, one run and one RBI, while Camp scored one run. David Burnside and Sean Casey also scored twice in the win.
Rose-Hulman also relied on a strong pitching performance in the win. Chuck Alexa tossed four shutout innings allowing two hits with three strikeouts. Dan Connolly added three scoreless innings with five strikeouts. Trevor Dallio and Stone Brogan combined for the final six outs.
Rose-Hulman improved to 13-20 with the win, while DePauw dropped to 6-22. The Fightin' Engineers return to action at Bluffton University in a conference twinbill on Saturday.
