Baseball Team Suffers First Loss to Cabrini on Thursday

AUBURNDALE, Fla. -- Cabrini College improved to 6-2 on the season and handed Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology its first loss of the 2019 campaign by a 6-1 margin on Thursday at Lake Myrtle Complex.

Rose-Hulman held Cabrini to just five hits in the game, but the patient Cavaliers took advantage of unearned runs to secure the victory.  Trever Bruno had a strong start on the mound for Rose-Hulman, allowing just two earned runs in five innings iwth three strikeouts.  Ray Lutick of Cabrini picked up the victory with six strikeouts and one run allowed in six innings of work.

Offensively, Conner Shipley and Conner Helbling led the Rose-Hulman offense with two hits each.  Shipley had singles, while Helbling had a single and a double.  Luke Calabrese provided an RBI with a line drive sacrifice fly to right field.  Garrett Laraia led Cabrini with three RBIs in the victory.

Rose-Hulman stands 3-1 on its Florida Trip and concludes the week with a 9:30 a.m. matchup against Penn State-Abington on Friday at the Chain of Lakes Complex in Winter Haven.
