Luke Buehler Named to National Team of the Week

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior Luke Buehler has been named to the National Team of the Week after a strong pair of outings on the Fightin' Engineer spring trip last week.  Earlier this week, Buehler was named the HCAC Pitcher of the Week for his efforts.

The third-year Fightin' Engineer pitcher joined nine position players, two other starting pitchers and one relief pitcher on the National Team of the Week.

Buehler pitched nine scoreless innings in two outings, allowing just three hits and two walks with 13 strikeouts.  The left-hander held the opposition to a .103 batting average for the week.

Buehler picked up the win in a 1-0 victory over Alma on Opening Day last week.  He pitched seven scoreless innings, allowing two hits with nine strikeouts.

His second outing of the week was a relief appearance against Penn State-Abington, which included two scoreless innings and four strikeouts.

Buehler was named a second-team American Baseball Coaches Association All-Mideast Region pitcher last season.  He was also a first-team all-HCAC award winner after finishing 4-4 with a 1.53 earned run average and 62 strikeouts in 70.2 innings of work.

In his career, Buehler has struck out 93 batters in 122.1 innings of work and has a career ERA of 2.35.

Rose-Hulman stands 3-2 on the season and is scheduled to open the 2019 home season against Illinois Tech and MacMurray on Saturday.
