Matt Murray Wins 3rd HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week Award

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Matt Murray has been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Special Teams Player of the Week for the third time this season after his efforts in a 31-28 win at Bluffton University on Saturday afternoon.

Murray finished 4-4 on extra points and hit a 27-yard field goal to help the Fightin' Engineers earn a 31-28 victory over the host Beavers.  He averaged 38.3 yards per punt on three boots, with two kicks landing inside the 20-yard line.  Murray also kicked off six times for a 53.3-yard average per kick.

On the season, Murray ranks No. 7 nationally in punting average at 42.0 yards per kick.  He is also 9-11 on field goals with a long boot of 40 yards and stands 34-37 on extra points.

The honor marks the seventh time in Murray's career that he has been named HCAC Special Teams Player of the Week.  He was named a CoSIDA Academic All-American and the HCAC Special Teams Player of the Year in 2016.

Rose-Hulman stands 7-2 overall and 6-1 in HCAC play entering a bye this week.  The Fightin' Engineers close the 2017 season at Earlham College on Nov. 11.
