DEFIANCE, Ohio - The Rose-Hulman men's basketball team picked up their second Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference road victory this week following an 85-66 triumph at Defiance College on Saturday afternoon.
Rose-Hulman was hot in the first half and raced out to a 15-point lead at halftime, leading DC 48-33 at halftime. In the first half, RHIT shot a blistering 57% (16-28) from the field. The long ball also helped propel Rose to an early lead. The Fightin' Engineers knocked down nine triples in the opening 20 minutes.
For the game the Fightin' Engineers shot 55.8% (29-52) from the floor. Rose finished 12-26 from downtown, good for 46.2%. Rose-Hulman took care of the basketball and only turned the ball over six times in the game.
Ryuji Aoki led Rose-Hulman with 20 points, including six three-pointer. Charlie Aimone finished with 15 points, Stephen Schueth and Craig McGee both added 10 points for the Fightin' Engineers. McGee added five assists and five rebounds as well. 11 different Engineers scored in the win.
Rose-Hulman improved to 10-7, 8-2 HCAC. The Fightin' Engineers will play again on Wednesday January 24 at Mount St. Joseph.
