TERRE HAUTE, IND -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer team will have their eyes once again set on reaching the NCAA Tournament. The Fightin' Engineers have made three consecutive trips to the national tournament and are poised to punch their ticket once again in 2016.
Rose-Hulman will begin their quest for a fourth straight NCAA Tournament berth in 2016 when they open their season at home against the Panthers of Principia College on September 1 at 7:30 P.M. at Intramural Field.
In 2015, RHIT finished with with an overall record of 13-2-6 and 7-0-2 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference. The Fightin' Engineers defeated Hanover in the HCAC Champinoship game 4-3 on penalty kicks.
Head Coach Sean Helliwell, in his ninth season at the helm of the men's soccer program, returns 10 starters from a year ago. The trio of Austin Webb, Alex Jansen, and Ben Lyon will look to continue their strong offensive play. They combined for 22 goals in 2015. Goalkeeper Carter Wright will anchor a strong defense that allowed just 15 goals a sesaon ago, good for a 0.67 Goals Against Average.
