TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology was one of just 215 colleges across the country to have both its men's and women's soccer teams earn a United Soccer Coaches Team Academic Award for the 2017 season, in results released by the national organization.
To earn the award -- which is presented one season behind -- teams must have an average grade point average of 3.0 or higher. A total of 824 teams received the honor.
The 2017 Rose-Hulman men's soccer team finished 12-5-3 overall and was 7-1-1 in conference play. The team reached the HCAC Tournament championship game before narrowly falling in double overtime. The 2017 women's soccer squad finished 10-8 overall and 5-4 in conference play, while tallying a goals against average of just 0.99.
The NSCAA College Team Academic Award winners for 2018 will be announced at this time next year.
