TERRE HAUTE Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's soccer came home with a 5-0 win over the Griffins of Fontbonne University Tuesday night, 9/25. This improves the Engineers to 3-4-1 on the season.
The Engineers were caught in a tight contest outshooting the Griffins only 5-3 in the first half. Michel Farhat was able to get to the net for Rose-Hulman after an assist from Chris Fusaro in the 15th minute to take the lead 1-0. The Engineers were able to increase the deficit after an assist from Tyler Foster led to a goal from Connor Claussen in the 42nd minute. The Engineers would hold onto a 2-0 lead as the match went into halftime.
In the second half, the Engineers continued to control the pace. Farhat was able to get past the Fontbonne defense for his second goal of the match in the 60th minute after an assist from Brevin Lacy. Just minutes later, the Engineers were able to get to the net again after lacy connected with Travis Bednarek for the goal.
This gave Rose-Hulman a commanding 4-0 lead with 27:11 left in the match. Ryan Tarr was able to score for the Engineers in the 78th minute after an assist from Eric Kirby to increase the lead once more. The Engineers ended the match outshooting the Griffins 14-8. Rose-Hulman was able to secure their third win of the season after defeating the Griffins with a final score of 5-0.
Goalie Pascal Schlee ended the night with 4 saves after 4 shots on goal. This puts the Engineers at 3-4-1 as they begin HCAC competition this Saturday, 9/29 hosting Bluffton University at 3:30 PM.
