CINCINNATI, Ohio -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on a strong team defensive effort an timely scoring to top Mount St. Joseph 2-0 in men's soccer road action on Wednesday night.
Travis Bednarek put Rose-Hulman ahead in the 36th minute with the first goal of the match, courtesy of an assist from Brevin Lacy. Midway through the second half, Ross Klauer added a key second goal that proved the insurance the Fightin' Engineers needed on an assist from Eric Kirby.
Rose-Hulman's defensive was a key story of the game, as the Engineers held Mount St. Joseph to just two shots. Pascal Schlee picked up his fourth goalkeeping shutout of the season to earn the victory.
Rose-Hulman improved to 5-4-1 overall and 2-0 in HCAC play, while Mount St. Joseph dropped to 2-8-1 and 1-1 in league matches. The Fightin' Engineers return to action on Saturday at Defiance College.
