TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Rose-Hulman men's tennis team has had no shortage of tough competition to begin the 2018 season. The Figthin' Engineers have played two NCAA Division II opponents in Davenport and Florida Tech as well as two NCAA Division I opponents in The Citadel and Mount St. Mary's. On Saturday March 10, Rose-Hulman will play its third Division I opponent in Eastern Illinois. RHIT will host the Panthers at the Terre Haute Tennis Bubble at 3 p.m.
Rose-Hulman is 4-5 on the young season, however, the Fightin' Engineers are 4-1 against NCAA Division III opponents. RHIT has collected wins over Principia, Augustana (Ill.), Adrian and Concordia-Moorhead this season.
Andre Adam and Cam Metzger are the leading returning players from last year's NCAA Tournament team and the pair has combined to go 14-8 in singles play this season. The duo has also gone 7-4 in doubles play. Ian Landwehr is also off to a solid start in his first season at Rose-Hulman, going 6-3 at the No. 1 singles flight.
Eastern Illinois brings a record of 3-10 to Terre Haute Saturday.
