TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology sophomore Ian Landwehr has been named Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Tennis Player of the Week for his efforts in last week's 5-4 win at Earlham College.
Landwehr helped Rose-Hulman secure its fourth consecutive HCAC regular season championship and extend the team's winning streak in league play to 38 straight matches with a hard fought road win. Landwehr won 6-3, 6-0 at No. 1 singles and teamed with Austin Perry to win 9-7 at No. 2 doubles.
Landwehr has a 21-3 singles record this season, including a perfect 18-0 mark against NCAA Division III opposition. He is ranked No. 12 in singles play in the ITA Central Region according to the latest rankings and won HCAC Player of the Week honors for the second time this season.
Rose-Hulman stands 15-10 overall entering the HCAC Tournament, which begins with semifinal action on Saturday. The title match is scheduled for 10 a.m. on Sunday.
