Men's Cross Country Places 2nd at HCAC Championships

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology relied on four all-conference performances to place second at the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's cross country championships at the LaVern Gibson Championship Course on Sunday.

Manchester won the meet with 46 points, followed by Rose-Hulman with 49.  Earlham was third with 57 points, and the top five included Hanover and Franklin.

Ben Gothard paced the Fightin' Engineers with a fourth-place finish in a time of 26:53.  Matthew Stevenot also had a top-ten finish in eighth with a time of 27:13.

Other all-conference performers included Nolan Gross in 11th place (27:23) and Nathan Ciriacks just behind in 12th (27:23).

Rose-Hulman also had two honorable mention all-league performances.  Evan Ammidown came home 14th (27:31) and Noah Heckenlively placed 19th (28:00).  The top seven also included John Sluys in 28:27.

Manchester and Rose-Hulman have combined to win every HCAC men's cross country championship since 2009.  The Fightin' Engineers won league titles in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018, while Manchester won in 2016 and 2019. 

Rose-Hulman returns to action at the NCAA Division III Regional on Nov. 16.
