CLERMONT, FL.-- The Fightin' Engineers Softball team split their double header falling to Northern Vermont Johnson 7-0 and defeating Cabrini with a final score of 4-2 on Wednesday. After today's competition Rose-Hulman stands at 2-4 overall. The team will return to competition this Friday, 3/1 as they face Augustana at 11:30 AM and Eastern Nazarene at 1:45 PM.
The Engineers were defeated by Northern Vermont Johnson in their second meeting of the week 7-0. Hannah Bach led the team in batting recording a single in the second inning. The loss put the team's record at 1-4 overall heading into the second game of the double header.
Game 2- Rose-Hulman 4, Cabrini 2
Rose-Hulman looked energized in their second game of the day facing Cabrini after a rain delay. The team was able to set the tone early in the game after taking a three run lead in the first inning. Emily Struble, Maddie Struble, and Jessica Thuer were able to get around the bases to put the Engineers in front. The Cavaliers were able to put up a run in the top of the second to decrease the deficit to 3-1.
Emily Struble was able to score her second run of the day in the bottom of the second to make the lead 4-1. The Engineers were able to play exceptional defense during the rest of the game only allowing one more run in the top of the sixth to defeat the Cavaliers with a final score of 4-2. Emily Struble had a great day pitching the entire game recording three strike outs while only allowing six hits and two runs. She also had a great day at the plate going 2/3 with two runs to lead the team.
