Sykes Leads 11 Top-Five Finishes at ISU Twilight Meet

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology sophomore Trey Sykes recorded the No. 5 ranked triple jump in NCAA Division III this season to lead 11 top-five finishes at the Indiana State University Twilight Meet.

Sykes tallied a mark of 48' 11" to top Division I triple jumpers and earn the event victory.  The mark, which stands No. 2 in Rose-Hulman history, will most likely qualify Sykes for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Championships in late May.

Rose-Hulman recorded two runner-up finishes on the afternoon. Josh Hennig came home as runner-up in the 400-meters (49.01), while Josh Himes was second in the discus (165' 2").

Third-place finishers from Rose-Hulman included Jaclyn Setina in the women's high jump (5' 3 3/4"); Andrew Okruch in the men's discus (163' 0"); and Ben Wewe in the men's javelin (166' 2:).

The effort also included fourth-place finishers Eric Fiacable in the hammer (166' 4"); Gabi Razma in the triple jump (36' 10 1/2"); and Nathan Schrader in the javelin (162' 7").  Fifth-place Fightin' Engineer finishers were Razma in the 400 (1:01.38) and Debie Gedeon in the 100-hurdles (14.99).

Rose-Hulman will return to action at the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet at Baldwin Wallace University on Friday.
