Track & Field Teams Travel to Baldwin Wallace Friday


TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Individuals from the Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology men's and women's track and field teams will travel to Baldwin Wallace in Ohio for their final regular season competition on Friday.

Rose-Hulman will compete in the Harrison Dillard Twilight Meet in Berea, Ohio, starting Friday at 2 p.m. The meet will include the last chance for Fightin' Engineer student-athletes to improve personal best marks or NCAA Division III national qualification standing.

The Fightin' Engineer currently have six performances ranked in the NCAA Division III national top 30. Trey Sykes leads RHIT student-athletes at No. 5 nationally in the triple jump with a mark of 48' 11".  Josh Himes is also ranked in the top 10, standing No. 10 in the discus with a mark of 165' 2".

Other top 30 performers include Jaclyn Setina in the high jump (No. 15 at 5' 6 1/2"); Nick Palmer at No. 17 in the pole vault (15' 9 1/4"); Himes at No. 23 in the shot put (52' 1 3/4"); and Debie Gedeon at No. 26 in the 100-meter hurdles (14.77).

In the NCAA Division III Great Lakes Region, Rose-Hulman has eight performances ranked in the top five.  In addition to the nationally ranked performers, Gabi Razma is No. 2 in the region in the triple jump (37' 5 1/4") and Ben Wewe is No. 5 in the javelin (183' 3").

The NCAA Division III Track and Field Championship Field is scheduled to be released on Saturday May 20.
