BOSTON, Mass. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior pole vaulter Nick Palmer came home 14th in the pole vault at the NCAA Division III Indoor Track and Field Championships at the Reggie Lewis Center on Friday afternoon.
Palmer cleared 15' 1" in his first appearance at an NCAA Division III national championship. He entered the meet seeded No. 13 in the field of 20 vaulters.
Palmer earned his trip to the NCAA Division III Indoor Championships with his Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship mark of 15' 9 3/4" set in February at Defiance College. His effort helped Rose-Hulman win its 20th consecutive men's HCAC track and field team championship, with 11 straight titles outdoors and nine consecutive championships indoors. The six-time USTFCCCA All-Region performer had finished as the HCAC pole vault runner-up four times prior to this season.
