TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology senior Eric Fiacable has been named the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Men's Field Athlete of the Week after winning three events at the DePauw University Invitational on Saturday.
Fiacable completed a rare sweep of winning the hammer (193' 2"), the discus (151' 2") and the shot put (48' 7 1/4"). His hammer throw currently leads the HCAC and ranks No. 6 in NCAA Division III so far this season. His efforts helped Rose-Hulman win the team meet championship at DePauw by 87 points in a 10-team meet.
This marks the fourth time that Fiacable has been named HCAC Field Athlete of the Week during the 2019 calendar year after earning three weekly awards during the indoor season. He was also named the 2019 HCAC Men's Field Athlete of the Year after helping lead Rose-Hulman to its 20th straight team championship in HCAC track and field competition.
The civil engineering major earned All-American honors with a 4th place hammer throw finish at the 2018 NCAA Division III Championships, and was also the 2018 HCAC Men's Outdoor Most Valuable Field Events honoree.
Rose-Hulman returns to action at the Indiana Division III Championships at DePauw University on Saturday.
