FRANKLIN, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team fell to No. 1 seeded Franklin College by a final score of 2-0 Tuesday night in the HCAC Semifinals.
The Grizzlies scored just 38 seconds into the contest and added another goal in the 51st minute. The Rose-Hulman offense was kept in check for much of the match.
Goalie Carli Weinberg recorded five saves in the match. Franklin out shot RHIT 16-9.
With the loss, the Fighin' Engineers conclude their season with an overall record of 11-8. The women also finished HCAC regular season play with a record of 6-3.
The 11 wins this season are the second most in a single season during Head Coach Amy Helliwell's tenure at Rose-Hulman. Freshman Jessica Wells had a strong campaign scoring eight goals over the course of the season including four game-winners. Junior Madeline Romeo also helped pace the RHIT offense in 2016. She scored six goals and collected six assists. Over the course of the 2016 campaign, 10 different Engineers scored at least one goal. The women also posted a 5-2 record at home.
