TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- Rose-Hulman started their 2018 season today against the visiting Foresters of Lake Forest College. The Fightin' Engineers were able to come out with a big win, defeating the Foresters with a final score of 5-0.
Rose started off aggressive with two early goals by senior Lauren London in the first four minutes of play to take an early 2-0 lead. The Engineers were able to tack on another goal before the end of the half, as Jessica Wells was able to set up Sarah Shoemaker to put the team up 3-0.
The second half was controlled by Rose-Hulman's defense. They held the Foresters to 2 shots in the second half as their offense continued to produce. Samantha Jacobs was able to put the Engineers up 4-0 after putting a header into the back of the net. Maggie Sheerin was also able to score in the second half after an assist from Shoemaker. They were able to finish the shutout to defeat Lake Forest with a final of 5-0.
Goalie Katie Demert had an impressive start to the season with 5 saves on the night to keep the Engineers ahead. Rose-Hulman will host their second home match of the season this Tuesday, September 4th at 6:00 PM against Principia College.
