TERRE HAUTE, Ind.--The Fightin' Engineers women's soccer team comes away with a win over Trine with a final score of 1-0. This win improves Rose-Hulman to 3-0 as they look forward to face Indiana State University on Sunday, 9/9 at 3:00 PM.
The match started as a defensive battle between both teams. Rose-Hulman was able to out-shoot the Thunder 4-2 at the end of the first half. The match remained scoreless going into the second period 0-0.
The rain started to come down hard at the beginning of the second half, as the offense for the Engineers started to come alive. Elle Ogden was able to get to the net after an assist from Jessica Wells in the 62nd minute to put her team ahead 1-0. While the rain continued to pour, the Engineers played great defense to protect their lead. Goalie Katie Demert recorded 4 saves on the night including an impressive dive for the ball in the 87th minute to stop a potential game tying goal.
This win improves the Engineers record to 3-0, which is their best start since 2014. They will travel down the road to face division 1 Indiana State University this Sunday, 9/9 at 3:00 PM.
