TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- Rose-Hulman women's soccer team traveled to take on crosstown foe St. Mary-Of-The-Woods this Wednesday, September 26. The Engineers were able to take control early and came away with a 5-0 win over the Pomeroys.
Jessica Wells was able to strike first after an assist from Lauren London in the 27th minute. Wells took the ball to the net herself just 50 seconds later to give the Engineers an early 2-0 lead. Rose-Hulman was able to increase their lead once more with a goal from Maddy Twetten after an assist from Sidney Hohl in the 39th minute. This score gave the Engineers the 3-0 lead going into halftime.
The second half, the Engineers continued to dominate. Maggie Sheerin was able to get to the net after an assist from Wells in the 53rd minute to increase the deficit. Wells was able to record her second assist of the night after connecting with Christina Rogers in the 69th minute for her first goal of the season. Rose-Hulman ended the game outshooting the Pomeroys 39-2.
The Engineers were able to secure the victory with a final score of 5-0. This improves the Engineers to 5-4 overall this season.
Goalie Maria Wohlsdorf finished the night with one save after one shot on goal. Wohlsdorf and Katie Demert combined on the shutout to lead the defense. Rose-Hulman will host their first HCAC contest of the season against Bluffton this Saturday, 9/29 at 1:00 PM.
