TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- Rose-Hulman women's soccer team started conference play against Bluffton University Saturday, September 29. The Engineers were able to score early and defeat the Beavers 4-0.
Maddy Twetten was able to strike first for the Engineers in the eighth minute to take the lead early in the match. Jessica Wells was able to get to the net in the 14th minute to increase the Rose-Hulman lead to 2-0. In the 26th minute, Christina Rogers was able to score after an assist from Wells to give the Engineers a demanding 3-0 lead. This would be the score as the match headed to halftime.
The second half, Rose-Hulman played great defensively. Maggie Sheerin was able to score in the 74th minute to put the Engineers ahead 4-0. Rose-Hulman ended the match outshooting the Beavers 19-2. The Engineers were able to secure their first conference win of the season with a final score of 4-0. This improves their record to 6-4 overall and 1-0 in the HCAC.
Goalie Maria Wohlsdorf finished the night with two saves after two shots on goal. The efforts of goalies Wohlsdorf and Katie Demert combined to produce the shutout. Rose-Hulman will continue HCAC competition as they host Mount St. Joseph University next Wednesday, 10/3 at 7:00 PM.
