DEFIANCE, Ohio.-- Rose-Hulman women's soccer team was able to claim a road win against HCAC competitor Defiance College on Saturday, 10/6. The Engineers were able to defeat the Yellow Jackets with a final score of 4-0. This improves Rose-Hulman to 7-5 overall and 2-1 in the HCAC.
Sarah Shoemaker got the Engineers started early with a goal in the 19th minute after an assist from Jessica Wells. Rose-Hulman would then extend their lead in the 35th minute after Christina Rogers was able to connect with Elle Vuotto for the score.
Rogers would get a goal of her own just minutes later after an assist from Maddie Sorensen to give the Engineers a 3-0 lead. Just before the end of the first half the Engineers were able to get to the net once more. Elle Vuotto was able to set up Sidney Hohl for the score to record her first goal of the season.
Rose-Hulman would control the second half defensively finishing the match outshooting the Yellow Jackets 27-7. They would finish the match defeating the Yellow Jackets 4-0.
Goalie Katie Demert finished the night with two saves after two shots on goal. The efforts of goalies Maria Wohlsdorf and Demert were able to combine to produce the shutout. Rose-Hulman will continue HCAC competition as they travel to face Hanover College next Wednesday, 10/10 at 5:00 PM.
