Women's Soccer Earns Key Road Win at Franklin

FRANKLIN, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology junior Jessica Wells scored two first-half goals and the Fightin' Engineers play solid defense in a 2-0 women's soccer shutout victory at Franklin College on Wednesday night.

Wells scored two goals in a three-minute span of the first half, finding the back of the net in the 29th and 32nd minutes.  Alyssa Taylor assisted the first goal, with Maggie Sheerin providing the pass on the second goal.  Rose-Hulman controlled much of the contest, outshooting the host Grizzlies 23-7 overall.

Katie Demert picked up the shutout win in goal with three saves for Rose-Hulman.  The effort marked Rose-Hulman's eighth overall shutout of the 2018 season.

Wells and Elle Ogden had seven shots each to lead the Rose-Hulman offense.  Taylor and Maddy Twetten recorded four shots to bolster the Engineers.

Lexi Short led the Franklin performance with 10 saves in goal.

Rose-Hulman improved to 9-6 overall and 4-2 in HCAC play, while Franklin dropped to 7-7-1 and 4-2 in league games.  The Fightin' Engineers travel to Manchester on Saturday afternoon.
