TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer has finalized their schedule for the 2019 season. The schedule consists of nine home matches with four HCAC home competitions against league rivals.
Rose-Hulman was able to finish the 2018 season with an overall record of 10-8 and a conference record of 5-4.
The team starts their schedule hosting crosstown rival St. Mary-of-the-Woods on Friday, August 30th. The annual Grey Matters Awareness Game is scheduled at home against Millikin on September 14th. The team then looks to attack their HCAC schedule in the month of October.
The Engineers are excited to welcome in a large freshman class for the 2019 season. Nine new names will be added to the Engineers roster, and over 20 veteran players are expected to return to provide the largest roster in program history.
The Engineers will also return nine starters from the last year's team. These returnees include 2018 1st Team ALL-HCAC forward Jessica Wells. Wells will enter her senior season with 28 career goals, 14 career assists, and 70 career points. Other upperclass leading returning scorers include senior Maddy Twetten with four goals, four assists, and 12 points; and junior Elle Ogden with four goals, four assists, and 12 points.
Other double-digit returning scorers include sophomore Sarah Shoemaker with five goals and 12 points; and junior Maggie Sheerin with four goals and 10 points. The sophomore duo of Tina Rogers (4 goals, 9 points) and Elle Vuotto (3 goals, 8 points) also provided scoring depth last season.
Goalkeeper Katie Demert will return to the Engineers as well. Demert started every game during her sophomore season finishing with 65 saves, 0.93 GAA, and .802 save percentage.
