Women's Soccer Outshoots Greenville but Falls 1-0

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's soccer team outshot Greenville University 21-5, but the visiting Panthers scored the lone goal in a 1-0 victory over the Fightin' Engineers on Wednesday night.

Kate Arthur scored the game's only goal in the 47th minute to give Greenville a 1-0 lead.  Rose-Hulman outshot Greenville 9-1 in the opening half and 12-4 in the second half, along with a 4-1 edge in corner kicks, but could not find the equalizing goal.

Marjory Coates picked up the goalkeeping win for Greenville with 10 saves in the shutout.

Offensively, Jessica Wells led Rose-Hulman with five shots and Lane Lawrence had four shots.  Maggie Sheerin added three shots to the balanced Rose-Hulman offense.

Rose-Hulman stands 2-2 on the season, while Greenville is 1-3-1.  The Fightin' Engineers host Millikin University in the Grey Matters Awareness Game on Saturday at 5 p.m. at the Engineer Intramural Field.  Students will receive free pizza and free T-shirts, while The Herd will be giving away phone wallets and pop sockets.  All proceeds from the game will be donated to St. Jude Childrens Hospital.
