BLUFFTON, Ohio-- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology was able to achieve their fifth shutout of the season after defeating the Bluffton Beavers with a final score of 3-0. This improves the Engineers to 6-4 overall and 1-0 in the HCAC this season.
The Fightin' Engineers relied on their defense once again to limit the Beavers offensive opportunities. Lane Lawrence was able to strike first for the Engineers after an assist from Sidney Hohl in the third minute. This would give Rose-Hulman the lead 1-0 at the end of the first half. The Fightin' Engineers outshot Bluffton 15-5 as the match headed to halftime.
Rose-Hulman continued to control the pace in the second half. Jessica Wells was able to get to the net after an assist from Elle Vuotto in the 48th minute to give the Engineers a 2-0 lead. Alexis Juarez was able to seal the win for Rose-Hulman with a goal in the 83rd minute to defeat the Beavers with a final score of 3-0. The Engineers outshot Bluffton 33-7 in the match.
The Engineers will continue their HCAC schedule hosting Mount St. Joseph on Wednesday, 10/9 at 7:30 PM.
