RICHMOND, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology moved into the outright lead in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference women's soccer standings with a 2-0 victory at Earlham College on Saturday afternoon.
The win, combined with Anderson's 1-0 loss to Franklin, lifts the Fightin' Engineers into outright first place in the league standings at 4-0-1.
Rose-Hulman dominated play throughout the contest, outshooting Earlham 16-1 in the first half and 24-6 in the game. The Earlham defense was stingy, however, keeping the match scoreless at the half.
Katie Demert recorded three saves in the shutout, while Mel Johnson kept Earlham close with 11 saves in net. Wells had a team-high 10 shots for Rose-Hulman, with Twetten and Elle Vuotto adding four each.
Rose-Hulman improved to 9-4-1 and 4-0-1 in league play with the win, while Earlham dropped to 7-7 and 0-5 in conference play. The Fightin' Engineers host Franklin College on Wednesday night.
