TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology placed four players on the first-team all-Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Women's Tennis Team after another strong fall season was completed last weekend.
The team's top four singles players and top two doubles teams were honored with first-team all-league recognition. Anna Thompson, Bella Evans, Naomi Bhagat and Fanny-Jane Banda each claimed all-conference honors after completing the season as the team's No. 1, 2, 3 and 4 singles players, respectively. Thompson and Bhagat combined as the No. 1 doubles team, with Evans and Banda representing Rose-Hulman at the No. 2 flight.
Thompson finished 8-6 as the team's primary No. 1 singles player, increasing her career record to 18-13. She also compiled a 9-6 doubles mark to move her career record to 17-13.
Evans ranks No. 2 in Rose-Hulman with 44 career singles wins and No. 3 all-time with 75 combined singles and doubles wins. Her career singles winning percentage of .746 ranks No. 5 in school history. She finished 7-6 at No. 2 singles this season and was 8-7 in doubles matches, setting her career doubles mark at 31-30.
Bhagat moved into No. 1 in Rose-Hulman's career singles winning percentage list through her sophomore season. She finished 11-2 overall and 11-0 in dual matches at the No. 3 flight, increasing her career singles record to 26-4. Her school record singles percentage stands at .867. Bhagat was also 9-6 in doubles play, improving her career record to 18-13.
Banda enjoyed a strong freshman season at the No. 4 singles flight, finishing 12-2 overall. She also compiled an 8-7 record during the fall doubles season.
Rose-Hulman reached the HCAC Tournament Semifinals after finishing 10-3 overall this fall. The Fightin' Engineers were third in the HCAC this fall at 5-2 overall. The spring season begins with a home match against Principia on Feb. 17 at the Wabash Valley Tennis Center.
