INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's tennis team battled top-seeded Hanover College in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference Tournament Semifinal Round before falling 5-2 to the Panthers on Saturday afternoon at West Indy Racquet Club.
Hanover jumped ahead early by claiming wins in the three doubles matches. Anna Thompson battled for a three-set win at No. 2 singles, and Fanny-Jane Banda earned a straight-set victory at No. 3 to give the Fightin' Engineers hope, but Hanover picked up two singles wins to secure the victory.
Hanover advances to the HCAC Tournament Championship Round for the seventh straight year, while Rose-Hulman completed the fall season with a record of 5-8. The Fightin' Engineer highlight was the team's opening round HCAC Tournament win over Anderson 5-0 on Friday night.
