TERRE HAUTE, Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman Fightin' Engineers women's tennis team has just released their 2019 season schedule. The schedule is filled with competitive matches from different institutions that includes matches against HCAC opponents.
The team will begin their season with multiple home matches taking on IU-Kokomo and Greenville on 9/7 at 9:00 AM and 4:00 PM. This will be followed by another home match against Millikin on 9/12 at 6:00 PM. The team will then move on to conference play with only one other non-league match on the road against St. Francis (IL) on 9/14 a 4:00 PM.
The team returns three first-team All-HCAC honorees from the 2018 campaign in Naomi Bhagat, Anna Thompson, and Fanny-Jane Banda. Bhagat recorded a 11-5 overall record and a 10-3 record in dual matches in the 2018 season. She was 4-2 as the Engineers No. 1 singles player and was 6-1 at the No. 2 singles spot. Her career record stands at 39-13 which ranks her No. 3 in the Rose-Hulman history books.
Thompson recorded a 3-4 record at the No. 1 singles spot and 3-2 in the No. 2 singles position. Her and Bhagat were able to team up to record an 8-8 record as the No. 1 Rose-Hulman doubles team.
Banda recorded an overall record of 13-2 and 12-0 in singles dual matches. She now holds the school record for singles winning percentage at .862.
Other returning players include Kai Faulk, Susan Harmet, Kyla Jarvis and Krista Manche. Jarvis is the most experienced of the remaining four returnees, with a career singles record of 10-9 and a career doubles mark of 18-15.
The team is ready to get underway with the leadership of first-year head coach Dallas Kelsey this fall.
