Women's Tennis Splits Weekend Competition Against IU Kokomo and Greenville

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology topped NCAA Division III Greenville 6-3 after falling to NAIA IU-Kokomo 8-1 to open the women's tennis season on Saturday at the Joy Hulbert Tennis Center.

Naomi Bhagat highlighted the Fightin' Engineers early performance against IU Kokomo with a three-set win at the No. 1 singles position 1-6, 6-4, 1-0 (10-8). 

The second match of the day showcased improvement for the Engineers as they took on the Greenville Panthers.  The No. 1 doubles team of Bhagat and Breanna Rogers were able to come away with a win 8-1.  The Engineers No. 3 doubles team of Kyla Jarvis and Krista Manche were also able to pick up a win 8-2.  This put Rose-Hulman ahead 2-1 at the end of doubles competition. 

The Engineers played very well in singles picking up wins at No. 2, No. 3, No. 4, and No. 6 singles matches.  Fanny-Jane Banda competed at No. 2 singles winning 6-3, 6-1.  Rogers picked up a win in No. 3 singles 1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-7).  Jarvis won at No. 4 singles 7-6 (4), 6-2. Emma Goodman finished strong representing the Engineers with a win at No. 6 singles1-6, 7-5, 1-0 (10-8).

Rose-Hulman now stands at 1-1 on the season and returns to action with a home match against Millikin on Thursday at 6 p.m.
