ST. LOUIS, Mo. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology improved to 3-1 on the volleyball season with three-set wins over Webster and Dominican (Ill.) on Saturday at the Washington University (Mo.) Invitational.
In the opener, Rose-Hulman relied on a balanced team performance to defeat Webster 25-19, 25-10, 25-17. Adekite Oladipupo led the Fightin' Engineers with 12 kills and 18 digs. Mackenzie Gossard added nine kills, with Marissa Gollnick adding eight.
Katie Orbeta had a team-high 24 assists and four service aces, and Oladipupo provided three aces. Gabi Razma reached double figures with 13 digs, and Alison Rogozinski recorded 14 assists to provide depth. Mia Styczynski recorded a team-high four block assists.
In the nightcap, Rose-Hulman fought past Dominican in a tight match 27-25, 26-24, 25-16.
Oladipupo again led the offensive efffort with 16 kills. Gossard had eight kills and Grace Beach recorded six. Orbeta and Rogozinski led the passing effort with 18 and 16 assists, respectively. Gossard also paced the team with four service aces.
Defensively, Razma had a team-high 22 digs and Oladipupo contributed 11. Styczynski led the front row defense with two block assists.
Following the weekend, Oladipupo was named to the all-tournament team of the Washington University Bear Invitational for her efforts.
Rose-Hulman will make its home debut next weekend with its annual Invitational. The Fightin' Engineers host Monmouth and William Woods on Friday, then face North Central and Illinois College on Saturday.
