TERRE HAUTE Ind.-- The Rose-Hulman volleyball team came away with a big win against Webster University in the home opener on Wednesday night. They were able to defeat the Gorloks in three straight sets to improve their record to 3-2.
The Fightin' Engineers had a well-balanced performance in the team win against Webster 25-17, 25-18, 25-18. Bailey MacInnis and Marissa Gollnick were a force on the offensive end recording 9 kills each throughout the game. Maria Bruner had an outstanding match with 8 kills on 10 attempts to finish with a .800 hitting percentage.
Rose-Hulman also had a solid defensive effort. Katryna Dahlberg led the team with 24 digs to keep the Gorloks out of reach. Gollnick, Adekite Oladipupo, and Katie Orbeta were also able to reach double digits in digs with 12, 14, and 12. This win improves the Engineers to 3-2 as they look ahead to the Washington U. Invitational this weekend. On Friday, 9/7 they will face MacMurray at 5:00 PM CT and Carthage at 7:00 PM CT. On Saturday, 9/8 they will face Birmingham-Southern at 12:30 PM CT and Neb. Wesleyan at 2:30 PM CT.
