NORTH MANCHESTER, Ind. -- The Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology women's cross country team won its first Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference championship in a tightly contested meet at Manchester University on Saturday afternoon.
Rose-Hulman scored 56 points to win its first women's cross country team conference championship in 23 years of program history. Rose-Hulman scored 56 points, with Manchester at 60 and Bluffton at 63 just behind. Earlham, Franklin, Hanover, Anderson, Transylvania and Mount St. Joseph rounded out the team scoring.
Rose-Hulman won its first women's cross country conference championship under the direction of HCAC men's and women's Coach of the Year Geoff Wayton. The coaching staff also includes assistant coach Larry Cole and student assistant Cole Hruskovich, son of Rose-Hulman Athletic Hall of Fame member Roger Hruskovich.
The Fightin' Engineers return to the course on Nov. 11 at the NCAA Division III Women's Cross Country Regional.
