Softball Celebrates Senior Day in Mount St. Joseph Doubleheader

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. -- Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology fell short in both games of their doubleheader against the Mount St. Joseph Lions with final scores of 8-0 and 11-0.  This drops the Engineers record to 5-17 overall and 1-7 in the HCAC.  The team will compete next on Friday, 4/19 as they host the Bluffton Beavers at 5:30 PM and 7:30 PM.

Before today's game the team took the time to recognize their senior athletes for their dedication to the Rose-Hulman softball program.  Seniors Maddie Struble, Erin Minervini, and Bryly Shipman were escorted onto the field by their families and friends and honored with their senior gifts.

Game 1- Rose-Hulman 0, Mount St. Joseph 8 - 5 innings

The Engineers found themselves in a challenging contest against the top HCAC ranked Mount St. Joseph Lions.  The Lions were able to put together 5 runs through 3 innings to jump in front of Rose-Hulman early.

The Lions would increase their lead with 3 more runs in the top of the 4th inning to make the score 8-0.  This would be the final for game one.  Emily Struble pitched for the Engineers recording 2 strikeouts through all five innings.

Game 2- Rose-Hulman 0, Mount St. Joseph 11 - 5 innings

The Lions were able to make a statement early in game 2 with 9 runs to start the game in the first inning.  Mount St. Joseph would add on two more runs in the 3rd to make the score 11-0.

Emily Struble and Angela Boulboulle led the offense with one hit each.  The deficit would prove to be too much for the Engineers and the Lions would come away with the win 11-0.
